SEA OLYMPICS: Saturday, March 4
The Sea Olympics were a ton of fun and on the perfect day. The Indian Ocean (still can’t believe that I’m in the Indian Ocean) looked like a glass lake as the waves were nonexistent. I got up early to get dressed up in green (our color) and paint clovers on myself and friends. Our sea, the Arabian Sea, was the enchanted leprechauns and the mystical pot of gold. You would think we’d have some Irish luck with us, but not so much. While the other seas had things planned out for weeks, we planned our karaoke, synchronized swimming, and chant (which we took from Saturday Night Live) the night before. There was something like 15 events that the 8 student seas plus the Fanta-Sea (the faculty/staff sea) competed in. Everyone was really decked out and spirited and it was awesome to have that much energy on board.
I was on the tug of war team. We put up a good fight, but lost after almost a minute. We still blame it on the fact that they taped up their hands while ours were torn apart. I also did karaoke where 6 of us did our own version of Irish Step Dancing and then some lip synching to an Irish song that the guys from “Whose Line is it Anyway” made up. That was really fun, especially since it was in front of a few hundred people shoved into the Union. My roommate, Nischelle-who was in it too, got a video so if you want to make fun of me later I’ve got it on my computer.
We ended up taking third to last (we beat the Mediterranean Sea Pink Pepto Bismos and the Fanta-Sea). At least we didn’t get last :)
